Biography

My business was founded in Thunder Bay, Ontario with the hope to inspire, connect and provide opportunities to support the connection to Indigenous Knowledge. It came to me, once, while thinking about a vision for my own business, what was important to me? What was I good at? I’ve always love to talk, listen to stories, and research. It came to me that designing programs, building insightful and purposeful spaces, to be together. Professional Development in this area means engaging, building community and being there to help support vision and inspire hope. Being Anishinabe from one of the sister communities from the Robinson Superior territory along Lake Superior, and having a background in Indigenous Research, meant, this was my way of exploring this area.

I have worked in many areas in education in learning as well as education jurisdiction with Treaty 9 and 5,  the health sector and have additionally provided consulting for most sector including justice, Human Rights, arts based, public legal education, youth focussed, Elder focussed, Entrepreneurship, for example.

I carry degrees from Trent University, Lakehead University of which my thesis was published in 2012. I am from Biigtigong Anishinabek and a mixed race Anishinabekwe and my dad is a Newfoundlander. I grew up in my early years in Toronto and later in the north shores of Lake Superior in my mom’s territory which is part of the Robinson Superior Traditional Territory, and is one of the most beautiful spaces!

Previous to going to university I worked as a National Lifeguard for 3 years and a swim coach and instructor for 5 years.  I have also tree planted, and worked as an Outdoor Instructor with Outward Bound. I’d love to help design Land based programming with an Indigenous focus and I love theatre, and writing. I am a creative person who has spent a great deal of time in libraries! (nerd) And very very fortunate to spend a lot of time with my maternal grandmother from Pic River First Nation, who has now passed on though who I really felt connected with.

I’ve lived in Toronto, Calgary, Thunder Bay, Peterborough, Penticton, Markham & Marathon, Ontario.
